The fig stands out, but is highlighted with coconut, citrus, and vanilla in both the drink and fragrance. I chose an Italian favorite, Amaro Lucano for the libation. It’s bitter in taste—however, it balances all the nuances that wonderfully and effortlessly transport you. The rosemary & orange zest add to the nose without overpowering the drink.
2 oz Amaro Lucano
1 muddled fig
1/2 oz coconut water/cream
1/2 lemon
1/2 oz vanilla syrup
Orange zest & rosemary to garnish
Muddle 1 fig in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add 1/2 oz lemon, 1/2 oz vanilla syrup, 1 ½ oz coconut cream (meat and water from a coconut), 2 oz Amaro Lucano. Give a healthy shake and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with orange zest and fresh rosemary.
